Old Sneakers - 1917 Keds

Keds advertisement from 1917: "You women folks don't know the good in store for you if you haven't been acquainted with Keds"

While the shoe in this advertising doesn't look quite like the classic white Keds Champion below, it is an advertisement for Keds ("canvas, rubber-soled footwear") from 1917! The United States Rubber Company (who later sold the Keds brand to the Stride Rite Corporation and eventually became part of Michelin's North American operations) introduced the first "Keds" brand shoe to the shoe market on 14 July 1916.
