I had back troubles, similar to what I had in 1993, in 1996 during the middle of the Atlanta Olympics;
no, I wasn't trying to do my personal best. I was in the same hospital I was in in 1994 for another problem. This time, I only had a pinched nerve from a muscle spasm. It was bad enough that I couldn't get out
of bed for a while; I only missed a week of work this time, unlike the eight weeks I missed in 1993.
I was watching NBC interview Jackie Joyner-Kersee during the morning news; she was wearing a white pair of Nike Air Max Triax sneakers in the studio. Right then, a hospital orderly hauled me down to the imaging department. Guess what? My MRI technician was wearing her very stylish (and quite non-magnetic) Air Max Triax sneakers, exactly like the ones Jackie was wearing!
